Brooke Seipel is a seasoned digital content strategist with a rich background in journalism and a specialized expertise in audience development and storytelling.
In her most recent role, Brooke served as the Senior Director of Content at The Messenger, where she built and led a diverse audience development team of over 30 professionals. Under her thoughtful leadership, The Messenger outperformed well-funded news startups during its launch phase, recording hundreds of thousands of unique visits, purely organically, without any brand recognition or paid media. Brooke continually led the team in exploring new platforms and experimenting with format and style, always leaning on data and analytics to guide strategic pivots.
Prior to The Messenger, Brooke worked as a communications consultant to nonprofits, including Just Equations and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 vaccine team. (She has a soft spot for social good projects and volunteering at the aquarium or botanical garden.)
From 2016 to 2021, Brooke worked in political journalism, serving as the Managing Editor of Social Media for The Hill in Washington, D.C. during a highly successful period for the outlet. During her tenure in that role, The Hill achieved record-breaking unique site visits and search traffic every month of 2020, including the highest traffic day in site history with nearly 6 million visits from over 5 million unique visitors. This propelled The Hill to secure the #2 spot in ComScore’s News/Politics section for June 2020.
Before The Hill, Brooke honed her journalism skills at The New Republic and The Orange County Register.
